As I am sure you are aware, thousands of Buddhist monks, who participated in the recent non-violent pro-democracy protests in Burma, have now been rounded up by the military junta and interned to be murdered or tortured. Their temples and shrines are now occupied by armed soldiers to prevent any recurrence of the peaceful protests. Monks and nuns, some of them elderly, were badly beaten in the streets while offering no resistance. Their bravery, and that of the Burmese people who followed them onto the streets to face soldiers with orders to shoot to kill, is both inspiring and humbling.

International Bloggers' Day for Burma on the 4th of October
International bloggers are preparing an action to support the peaceful revolution in Burma. We want to set a sign for freedom and show our sympathy for these people who are fighting their cruel regime without weapons. These Bloggers are planning to refrain from posting to their blogs on October 4 and just put up one Banner then, underlined with the words „Free Burma!“.

Bruv, I saw the end part of a programme about this on TV last night. It was horrible...seeing monks being beaten with rifles arriving at their places of worship with blood running down their heads and their gowns.
