Today and tomorrow form the winter solstice. This is the time of year when the sun is at its lowest and the night is therefore at its shortest. Yule is the traditional ancient winter festival when we celebrate the turning of the year. From now on the days will get progressively longer and life will return to the earth in the form of new buds and new growth. If we want to live in harmony with the cycles of nature, Yule marks a clear change from darkness into light which will continue until the summer solstice in June when the days will be at their longest.
Let us take a moment to consider that what has gone before is dying away to be replaced by the rebirth of life. From now on the conditions for growth are increasing. We can reflect this in our own lives by using Yule to bid farewell to that which has past and welcoming that which is to come. We may mark these celebrations by bringing into our homes that which is flourishing such as the holly and the ivy and the mistletoe. All of these are symbols of this time of change. Also by bringing light into our homes with candles and wood fires we are symbolising the new dawn that awaits us. And we may use this time of year to think about what changes we would like to make in our own lives; what we want to discard and what we want to embrace. Join with me in celebrating Yule.

Bruv, great to see you back. Yes, this year has been a year of ill health for many, so let's hope that this winter solstice brings health and renewal for us and those around us.
Thinking of you all over Christmas...so have a wonderful time with your families and friends or however you spend Christmas. The special part of Christmas for me is to be with my family, and this year I will be spending it in the UK - so it's going to be a very very special one for us here in France making our way to the UK tonight.
Much love to you all Swan, Manny and the signets xxxx
Goof luck with the Hypnotherapy Fushsy. Will speak to you soon. x
Hi girls,
Fuchsy, do keep me posted on the hypnotherapy. I will be interested to compare the treatment you get to what I would offer. I hope you and your family stay well, loving and close.
Sweez, It will be nice to see you to. We will be celebrating the solstice tonight with candles holly and mistletoe!
Love to you both and to all our contributors and readers. Have a cool Yule!

Happy Holidays everyone! It's so good to see you here. Swan, not sure if you changed your email address because I've received non-deliverable messages. If you have a new address, please send it to me.
Ill health has certainly inflicted my family in 2007. I join all of you in turning this around by having a healthy and prosperous 2008.
Love and peace to all, Lynn xo
Hi all,
It has certainly been a long time since I've been on the Dao!
You may be interested to know that our Yule celebration went with a bang! I was lighting candles for our winter solstice meal when somehow I set off the entire box of matches. The whole kitchen was filled with white smoke and a big bang like on fireworks night! I am sure this was a sign to celebrate the return of light in the darkness of winter! Hope you all enjoyed christmas as much as we all did. It was lovely to see Swan, Manny and the cygnets and a good laugh was had by all!
